So I’ve mentioned Mooburger previously as being quite an awesome little place to get burgers, but I’ve never had a chance to make a post about it…until now. Mooburger is another place in Cobble Hill that I like to frequent. They serve organic burgers and use local ingredients in all their food items. So basically, if you are ever curious about how Brooklyn tastes like, go to Mooburger!
I am not a chocoholic, but I do like chocolate enough to visit restaurants and dessert bars that specially cater to chocolate lovers. I particularly love The Chocolate Room in Cobble Hill because we share the same motto: “there’s always room for chocolate.” No matter how stuffed I am to the brim with the savory, I always have room for the sweet. Since I often visit my favorite cluster of restaurants in Cobble Hill, The Chocolate Room is always a short jog away. And yes, I absolutely use the short jog as justification for the amount of chocolate I eat later in celebration…because all short jogs are meant to be celebrated.
I recently met up with a few friends who are visiting from out-of-state and we decided to try out The Little Owl located in Greenwich Village. The restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine and is a highly recommended local favorite for casual dining. Since my friends and I have not been here before, we decided to check it out to see what all the buzz was about.
This week has been filled with good news, slightly trying experiences, and lots of headaches in between. On Friday, T. and I decided to skip Halloween and go out for a nice, non-spooky, super ordinary dinner. We originally wanted to pick a fancy-smanchy place to celebrate my exam results, but we were both dead tired. T. had just finished a 24-hour call at the hospital and I had just finished my third round of interviews with the most amazing company of life, so we were both not in the mood to go the extra mile that being fancy required.
After minimal deliberating, we decided to go to Uno’s Pizzeria & Grill – it was a no brainer, really. Chain restaurants often suffer a notoriously bad reputation with the general foodie population. While I do agree with some of the animosity, I must admit that Uno’s is my go-to place for all sorts of comforts. Aside from Uno’s, my other favorite is Olive Garden…and cue the groans. C’mon guys, I’m never going to say no to a place that tells me that when I’m there, I’m family. It’s just not going to happen!
In the very last grasps we had of summer, T. and I went to a nice little Italian restaurant in Cobble Hill called Fragole. We hadn’t planned on eating there specifically; we were just taking a stroll and soaking up all the good weather, and happened to be nearby when hunger struck. We were about to go to Mooburger when I suddenly felt like getting something that I could eat with a fork instead of my hands. Although Mooburger is awesome, I’m really glad we took a chance to discover this little gem. By the end of our meal, T. and I both decided that this place is worth revisiting in the future – well under certain circumstances.
If you don’t know it by now, I am in love with this little area called Cobble Hill. Osaka is actually a Japanese styled restaurant that T. and I have been going to for years, and it was also the first restaurant we discovered in Cobble Hill. We have, since then, branched out to a bunch of different eateries in the area, but this restaurant will always have a special place in our hearts – and stomachs. We recently decided to revisit this place, and of course, it did not disappoint.
I love burgers. No, seriously, ask anybody I know. I can always go for a burger, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner – that speaks volumes of my palate’s versatility, doesn’t it? Although I have tried quite a number of burgers, I can honestly say that I’ve never had a burger burger until I went to Minetta Tavern. Yes, their Black Label Burger is just that good. If perfection exists in burger form, it would definitely be the Minetta’s Black Label.
The patty in the Black Label is a perfect blend of dry aged ribeye, skirt steak, and brisket; the ratios of each cut are kept top secret. The restaurant uses only prime beef. According to one of the chefs, prime beef requires less external fat mixed in due to its marbling – and less fat means a better concentration of the beef flavor in the patty. While the full recipe of the burger is unknown to us outsiders, I think I know what the chefs used to make this burger – magic. Yep, a concoction of this caliber cannot be purely manmade.
Cobble Hill is one of my favorite spots to spend summer nights and this summer was no different. Instead of going to our usual spots however, T and I decided to check out Cafe Chili, a Thai restaurant. They were running a prix-fixe special — $20 for a salad, appetizer, entree, and dessert; seems like a good deal to me! I opted for the prix-fixe menu while T. went with his usual favorite.
My favorite way to eat dinner outside is family style…but only with my family. I can’t even do it with my bf, it’s the most awkward thing! And yes, my family and I use serving utensils – so no, it’s not about me having issues sharing germs with people other than my family. Anyway, instead of launching into a full discussion of my strange eating quirks, I wanted to share some pictures from my most recent family outing. We ate dinner at a Chinese restaurant, and man it was awesome. If I could have it my way, all family outings would end with a night like this.
